Yes — GlossGuardian is completely free to download and use. There are no subscriptions, no ads, and no in-app purchases required to access core features.

Tap the + button on the main screen. You can either scan the product's barcode (GlossGuardian will try to auto-fill its details), or enter the name, brand, and expiry date manually.

You can also set a PAO (Period After Opening) timer if the product has an open-jar symbol rather than a printed date.

PAO stands for "Period After Opening." It's the number of months a product is safe to use after you've first opened it — shown on packaging as an open-jar icon with a number, like "12M."

When you mark a product as opened, GlossGuardian starts counting. You'll get a notification as the product approaches its PAO limit.

On first launch, GlossGuardian will ask for permission to send notifications. You can also go to Settings → Notifications inside the app and enable them there.

If you declined at first, you can re-enable notifications in your phone's system settings under GlossGuardian's app permissions.

Go to Settings → Allergens and add the ingredients you want to avoid. When you scan or add a product whose ingredient list contains a flagged ingredient, GlossGuardian will show a warning.

Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This will permanently remove your account and all associated data. You will receive a confirmation email once the deletion is complete.

If you'd prefer to contact us directly for account deletion, email support@myglossguardian.com and we'll process it within 2 business days.

Yes. Your product data is stored securely in the cloud and linked to your account. Simply sign in on your new device and everything will sync automatically.

The current limit is 50 products per account. We're evaluating whether to raise this limit in a future update — drop us an email if you'd like to share your feedback.
